The verses are also known as \\\"St. Patrick\\\'s Hymn\\\" or \\\"St. Patrick\\\'s Breastplate\\\". It is believed that St. Patrick wrote it in 433 A.D. for divine protection before successfully converting the Irish King Leoghaire and his subjects from paganism to Christianity.

The illustrations by Knox run to 56 pages and were not completed at the time of his death. He spent over 30 years on the work for is own spiritual understanding and discipline. The bound volume is a National Treasure on the Isle of Man.

Archibald Knox Forum

The Archibald Knox Forum is a non-profit-making charity established in 2017, on the Isle of Man, where Archibald Knox (1864‐1933) was born. The charity's object is "the advancement of the education of the public, both in the Isle of Man and worldwide, in relation to the work and legacy of Archibald Knox", the Manx artist and designer, who was born and died on the Isle of Man.

Knox became the top designer for metalwork and jewellery at London's Liberty & Co. Not only did his work span Arts and Crafts, Art Nouveau, Celtic Revival and Modernism, but some of his turn-of-the-century designs could be said to point to Art Deco.

The website at archibaldknoxforum.com holds copious information on Knox, including over 2,000 images on his work, life and legacy. The Archibald Knox Forum posts an example of his work every day on the Facebook pages The Archibald Knox Forum and Art Nouveau/Jugendstil Decorative Arts, as well as on its Instagram page @thearchibaldknoxforum.

From April 2025 to April 2026 the most comprehensive Knox exhibition and event ever held in the world will take place on the Isle of Man, including 175 exhibits, films, lectures and visits to the newly launched Knox Trail.

This is a chance for the world to see his work and discover what it is about the Isle of Man's history, culture, spirituality and scenery that motivated and inspired this top designer and artist.
